Future Goals
At PLC, we’re committed to keeping public lands open, accessible, and inclusive for all creatives and explorers. While we dream of addressing every access and permitting challenge across the country, our resources as a grassroots team are limited — so we focus our efforts where they can make the biggest impact.
When determining whether to intervene in a particular area, we carefully consider several key factors:
-
Severity of violations or complaints, especially when land management agencies are misinterpreting or outright violating federal law.
-
Popularity of the area with creatives and clients — the more widely used, the greater the impact of change.
-
Volume of concerns — when multiple PLC members and creatives report similar issues in the same location, it moves higher on our radar.
-
Legal standing and precedent — situations with potential for broader legal wins for the creative community are prioritized
Get active! Rally fellow creatives in your area and work together! Encourage others with related complaints regarding a location to join the PLC as members, and inform us of your collective grievances, requesting assistance as a group. When multiple PLC members are facing issues in a single area, we are more likely to pull our resources to help mediate a solution with the land office. If you are facing legal threats from a federal land office when you are in the right, please let us know.
While we cannot assist on every request and cannot offer legal advice, we do empower you to be your own advocate, to know your rights and to be well acquainted with the laws of the land that you’re working on even if the land management office is not. If you’re legally in the right, you can directly address access issues in your area of interest with the confidence afforded to you by legal decree and in a respectful manner. Keep our Members Only PLC Cheat Sheet on hand as a quick guide!
It is important to note that just because we are not actively working in an area of concern right now, does not mean that we won’t in the future! As we grow, so does our reach!
